The Dirtiest Kept Secret - Connor's Story

We are in the pre-production planning stages for a documentary about Connor Reid Eckhardt. Connor died after taking 'one hit' of Spice at a party.

Connor's parents, Veronica and Devin Eckhardt founded 'The Connor Project Foundation' following the death of their 19-year-old son Connor Reid Eckhardt.

Connor died in July 2014, after taking one hit of the toxic, synthetic drug sometimes known as “spice.” Shortly after ingesting this deceptively harmless looking drug, he fell into a coma, and two days later was declared brain dead.

Before Connor’s death, Veronica and Devin had never heard of “spice” nor the many deadly synthetic drugs like it that have become so prevalent in the U.S. and around the world. But after Connor’s story began to spread through the press and social media, they learned that countless tweens, teens and adults were being devastated by these readily available, and often legal, drugs.

The Eckhardts felt that something had to change and people needed to know about these deadly drugs. Moving Image want to help educate people by showing the affect this 'legal high' has had on Connor's family. The story of their son Connor has reached global levels through news and media interviews from around the world and the viral sharing of their story through social media like Facebook. Thousands of parents, teens and adults, as well as medical and law enforcement professionals have contacted the Eckhardts to share how synthetics have harmed them, their loved ones and their communities, and to offer comfort and assistance in the fight against synthetic drugs.

The Eckhardts founded 'The Connor Project Foundation' to raise awareness about the widespread availability of toxic and deadly synthetic drugs, and to work to change policy so that no family has to suffer the loss of a loved one because of these drugs. Through their work, they honour Connor’s memory and ensure that by sharing his tragic story, others will be helped.

Veronica and Devin Eckhardt have been married for 24 years and reside in Northern California. In addition to Connor, they have two beautiful and loving daughters ages 18 and 6.
